This is a Jim Carrey movie with its usual hilariousness. He plays the character of Carl who is a divorcee. He appears to be in a perpetual depression and remains withdrawn from his surroundings. Every aspect of life that requires even a minimal risk scares him to no end. Bradley Cooper plays his best buddy, Peter. He encourages and compels Carl to lead a normal life and look beyond his self-inflicted solitude. He inspires his friend to attend a New Age self-help seminar so that he is better equipped to meet the challenges of life with a greater amount of confidence. It is all about bringing about a change in attitude where Carl could easily utter the word ‘yes’ with complete earnestness.

Carl is initially full of hesitation as he utters ‘yes’ for the first time. But then, the floodgates of life seem to open up as Carl rediscovers himself in an unbridled jovialness. He also finds a new love in the form of Allison played by Zooey Deschanel.
