Watch The Ruins Streaming Video - The Ruins is directed by Carter Smith and written by Scott B Smith. This movie is a dark horror thriller and stars Jonathan Tucker, Jena Malone, Shawn Ashmore and Laura Ramsay.
The Ruins might well remind you of Hostel and Turistas in style, but includes an interesting supernatural element added to it. The slash and torture that are an ever-present part of typical horror films are largely absent in this film. Jonathan Tucker plays the character of a twenty-year-old American lad, Jeff who’s traveling in Mexico with Amy (Jena Malone), Stacy (Laura Ramsey), and Eric (Shawn Ashmore). The group befriends a German traveler named Mathias, played by Joe Anderson. He invites them all to visit his archeologist brother at the Mayan temple that is located in the midst of the jungle.
When they arrive at the ruins, the locals shoot on of the members of the group and ban them from leaving the jungle. The Americans and the Mathias go to the top of the temple only to find that the archeological camp has been deserted. Mathias suffers a bad fall that leads to a serious injury. Here on begins the thrill of their adventure complete with carnivorous plants.
