Up in the Air is a movie about a corporate hatchet man who does a lot of traveling for his job and loves it. Unfortunately Ryan Bingham’s company is about to downsize its travel budget. He will be forced to fight for his job. About nine years ago Up in the Air was a novel written by the American author Walter Kirn. Now the same story has been adapted to film, starring George Clooney.
Clooney plays the 35 year old career transition counselor at ISM (Integrated Strategic Management) who flies around the country firing people. The divorcee is trying to attain one million frequent flyer (before he’s fired) which is a goal that has only been reached by six other people in his mileage club. Ryan loves his life on the road. He is a true traveling bachelor. He is always snacking on salted almonds, driving rental cars, sleepin in hotel suites, poppin pills and spending time with women in Vegas. The thought of taking his miles away is horrifying. It’s horrible timing because Ryan may have just met the frequent traveler woman of his dreams. Up in the Air will be in theatres December 23rd 2009.
