Mel Gibson and Ray Winstone star in the newest drama movie Edge of Darkness based off of the 1985 BBC television series. Gibson plays Thomas Craven who is a homicide detective for the Boston Police Department. When Craven’s own 24 year old daughter is murdered on the front door step of his own home he has to get to the bottom of things. This is his only child and he is a single father at that, but Craven soon realizes that her death is only one piece of this intriguing puzzle of corruption and conspiracy. Everyone assumed that he was the actual target, but the veteran homicide detective suspects otherwise and takes on a mission to learn more about his daughter’s murder as well as her secret life.
The process he goes through uncovers a lot of political conspiracies and cover-ups. Craven faces a dark world of corporate collusion with government-sanctioned murder. Then comes along Darius Jedburgh whose job is to clean up and hide all evidence. The secret government operative is played by Ray Winstone. This CIA officer was sent to cover up the murder. Watch as Thomas Craven searches for answers and how his daughter’s death transpires into something he probably never would have imagined. Edge of Darkness hits theaters January 29, 2010.
