My Name is Khan was directed by Karan Johar. It stars Shahrukh Khan, who plays a man named Rizvan Khan who suffers from the social disorder Asperger’s syndrome. He goes to live with his younger brother in the United States after the passing of their mother. Khan is unable to express his love and finds it very uncomfortable to interact with people. He meets a free-spirited woman in San Francisco named Mandira who is a hairstylist. She has experienced a failed marriage and has a six year old son.
Rizvan and the lady fall in love and get married, but the family experiences prejudice in their community. His brother Sam gets involved in a racially motivated schoolyard fight and gets beat up by fellow students. Rizvan faces more adversity and takes off on a journey through America.
